Guide to Spot Crypto ETF Subscription Process
A Spot Cryptocurrency ETF is an investment fund listed and traded on a securities exchange that directly holds physical crypto (such as BTC or ETH). Its primary objective is to track the real-time spot price of underlying cryptocurrency.
Through Spot Crypto ETFs, investors can participate in the virtual asset market within a regulated securities environment using their securities accounts. This eliminates the need for investors to personally manage private keys, digital wallets, or handle complex on-chain operations.
The following sections outline the two methods and procedures for subscribing to Spot Crypto ETFs via the primary market:
- Primary Market｜In-kind Subscription
- Account Opening Clients must first open a valid securities account with Victory Securities.
- Crypto Deposit Clients transfer their crypto into Victory Securities' designated accounts held at licensed virtual asset exchanges.
- Subscription Transaction Upon receiving a subscription instruction, Victory Securities uses the client’s deposited cyrpto to subscribe to the corresponding ETF units from the fund manager.
- Settlement and Holding Once the subscription is successful, Victory Securities transfers the ETF units into the client's account for holding.
- Primary Market｜Cash Subscription
- Account Opening & Compliance Clients must open an account with Victory Securities and complete the necessary "Know Your Customer" (KYC) and compliance review procedures.
- Deposit Clients deposit the required subscription funds into their Victory Securities account.
- Subscription Transaction Clients submit a subscription instruction to Victory Securities, which then executes the ETF subscription transaction on the client's behalf.
- Settlement and Allocation After the Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited (HKSCC) completes the settlement of the ETF units, Victory Securities allocates the respective units to the client's account.
